The trade journal agrarheute tested the new CombiPack HDP CV 165 XC in real-world conditions. The editorial team’s verdict: The baler-wrapper combination is a game-changer in terms of cut length and sets the bar high for the competition.

The CombiPack HDP is the first round baler-wrapper combination to utilize the proven HDP principle from the large-bale sector. Compared to the Comprima Plus, the machine offers about 30 percent higher throughput and bales that are 10 to 15 percent denser. A fully wrapped bale exits the baler every 35 to 40 seconds.

At its heart is the cutting unit with 41 knives. With a theoretical cut length of just 27 mm, the CombiPack HDP achieves the shortest cut length of any round baler. This results in uniform rations and the best forage quality.

The machine also sets new standards in terms of its drive system. A gearbox replaces the chains, transmits up to 250 kW, and eliminates the need for daily maintenance. The pick-up is hydraulically driven for the first time and automatically adjusts its speed to match the travel speed. Switching between net and film wrapping is convenient—simply press a button.
