New Perfect TriGant mulcher for Big M 450

Spelle, January 2019. The high-performance mower conditioner BiG M 450 from Krone is now also available with a flail mulcher. A joint development of Krone and the Dutch specialist Van Wamel B.V., the ‘Perfect TriGant’ topper assembly is made up of three individual TriGant mulchers that have been tailored to the high-capacity BiG M 450 mower conditioner and for which they offer fast and straightforward attachment. The front unit is attached by means of quick couplers and the side units are suspended in the DuoGrip centre-of-gravity suspension system that provides accurate contouring. In this specification, the BiG M 450 offers a total working width of 9.20m (3.13m by the front unit, 3.20m by each side unit), which marks a new record in the mulching sector.

The design positions one mulcher at the front and two side units between the axles, ensuring overlaps between the front and side units never change, not even in curved lines, and guaranteeing stripe-free work also in the tightest curves. In addition and thanks to its great manoeuvrability, the BiG M 450 matches up with the previous pass without shunting on the headland. Another major plus is the 3.29m transport width of the BiG M 450 in TriGant specification. After making minor adjustments (fitting warning panels and beacons, etc.), the machine is ready to travel on public roads.

Operator comfort included
With the TriGant mulcher customised to the BiG M 450, it benefits from the typical BiG M features, such as hydraulic ground pressure control from the cab which brings to this rugged machine optimum ground contouring at a low ground pressure. The depth is preset by repositioning the rolls and can then be perfected hydraulically from the convenience of the cab. Two further professional features include the auto lubricator and automatic radiator cleaning system which minimise the time spent on service and maintenance and which are perfect in extreme conditions.
The pulleys at the bottom have speed sensors that give real-time information of the current speed. In addition, the current belt slip is indicated and in case of an overload the mulchers are shut off automatically.
The BiG M 450 has automatic engine control which automatically switches between the Eco Power and M Power modes, thus tailoring the engine power to the application at hand and saving engine power and fuel in thinner crops. A new top-speed control feature automatically reduces the forward speed as soon as a certain speed range is reached.
Furthermore, the hydro-pneumatic suspension on the front and rear axle translates into a professional performance, high work rates and yet quiet running.
