KRONE receives design award for BiG Pack HDP II
KRONE is being awarded the Red Dot Award for the excellent design of its large square baler BiG Pack HDP II that perfectly combines practical functionality and brand identity.
Spelle, Germany, April 2026: KRONE receives international design award for the first time in the company's history: The large square baler BiG Pack HDP II 1290 (VC) has received the Red Dot Award in the product design category. With this award, an independent panel of experts has not only recognised the external appearance of the machine but also the overall quality of the entire design.
Quality label for excellent product design
On 20th March 2026, an international team of experts evaluated the BiG Pack HDP II 1290 (VC) in detail. The Red Dot Award highlights the high level of quality and sophisticated design by KRONE in the professional large square baler sector. The design of the Big Pack combines a powerful, clearly structured frame with visible technical functionality. The striking two-tone side hoods separate the profiles and specifically emphasise the functional areas of the machine. The dynamic layout provides the body of the machine with a sense of movement and a performance-based look, while the smooth surfaces emphasise the sturdy and precise design. The overall design is concise and confident, clearly illustrating the functionality and brand identity.
Practical design concept of the machine
This design has specifically been created for practical applications. Integrated allround lighting provides an optimum overview even if visibility conditions are poor, while a maintenance platform and railing ensure safe and easy access to all the relevant components.
The patented drive with integrated overload coupling provides the basis for high throughput levels at a maximum baling density, thus showcasing the functional ability of the machine. The Active pick-up guarantees clean and low-loss pick-up of crops, while the VariCut cutting unit enables cutting lengths to be adjusted accurately and flexibly.
When combined with the approved V-knotter system and Variable Filling System evenly shaped and highly compressed bales are generated regardless of the relevant operating conditions.
This highlights the requirement for a well-designed machine that consistently conveys functionality in all areas.
Global visibility of the brand
The Red Dot Award enables KRONE to emphasise its right to combine outstanding technical performance with a practical design.
Great designs do not just make machines stand out, but are also better in practice providing a clearer structure, improved access and easier handling.
"The Red Dot Award confirms that we have managed to consistently combine functionality, technology and the visual appearance for our customers," explains Berit Marzinzick, KRONE Head of Marketing Operations – responsible for designing products for KRONE machines in Spelle, Germany.
