Spelle, November 2011. Introducing <link 2394 - internal-link "Opens internal link in current window">Comprima V210XC and the baler wrapper Comprima CV210XC</link>, Krone presents two new models as additions to its successful Comprima baler range. The variable chamber round balers produce bales of variable diameters, which can be set from 0.9 to 2.05 metres. Until recently, Comprima models were able to produce up to 1.80m diameter bales. The new models take this diameter to 2.05m, which packs 3.96m3 of crop into one single bale. Compared with the 1.80m version, the 2.05m diameter machines boost the bale size by 30% and mass of crop by 30%, cutting down on the number of bales that need collecting per hectare of field.
Another advantage of producing larger bale diameters is a substantial (i.e. 15% to 20%) increase in throughput. Higher throughputs in turn result in less downtime and waiting until the tying cycle is completed as well as a 15% drop in fuel costs per tonne of crop.

Like all other Comprima balers, the two new models also feature the <link 2395 - internal-link "Opens internal link in current window">Novogrip</link> baling system. Novogrip uses fabric belts and horizontal slats to rotate and press the bale. It is this combination of belts and slats that adds the benefits of chain-slat systems to the benefits of belt-type systems.
The Novogrip principle: Novogrip relies on fabric belts that replace the chains used on traditional Krone chain-and-slat systems. Mounted on fabric belts, these horizontal slats grip the material as soon as it enters the baling chamber, rotating it and forming the bale in the process.
As the slats mesh with the material, they positively roll the bale in all types of crop and weather conditions, eliminating any slippage that may lead to the bale stalling and also reducing loss due to fragmentation, as has been observed on other systems. Consequently, proving far more dependable than systems that rely on rollers and belts, this design effectively minimises the risk of bale stall.

The Novogrip system
Made of various layers of different fabrics and rubber, which are wrapped to form an endless belt and subsequently vulcanised, these belts offer unique strength and a rated resistance to tearing that even in the most difficult crop conditions is subjected to only 10 percent of its load rating.
Further technical features include the EasyFlow pick-up system that dispenses with a cam track (meaning less wear and a 30% higher input speed), a 17 or 26-knife chopping system, net and twine wrapping as well as a new electronic control system.
The pick-up gathers the material over a width of 2.15m (DIN) and ensures a continuous flow of crops into the machine.
The new X-Cut chopping rotor with 17 or 26 knives cuts the material as it enters the baler to form bales that are easier to feed or bed out later. The nominal chop length is 42mm or 64mm.

Comprima is available both with net or a double twine wrapping system that comprises an active net feed system. At the end of the baling cycle, net wrapping is triggered by an electric motor, which actuates a rocker arm to feed the net over a special guide into the bale chamber. The number of net wraps is sensor controlled, and once the programmed number of wraps has been completed, the net is cut automatically. The Comfort operating unit brings ISOBUS compatibility, so that it can be operated either from the convenient Beta terminal supplied by Krone or the CCI-ISOBUS terminal.

The baler wrapper Comprima CV 2010XC features a new and intelligent wrapping system. The machine film wraps bales of 1m to 1.75m diameter (95cm to 2.89m3 in silage). To do this, the wrapping system adjusts automatically to the bale diameter that the operator has set on the display screen. Another practical detail is the wrapping unit that goes automatically into park position when preparing for road transport.

Summary:  The new Comprima models are round balers that suit professional applications and which economise on a number of parameters. Thanks to the larger diameter, more crop is baled into one bale to reduce the number of bales to be collected and the amount of film wrap used.
