KRONE Excellent Lumina Slide brings light into the darkness of harvesting! 

No more searching for “lost” bales! Just in time for the start of the season, KRONE introduces an innovation that changes the way round bales are handled: Excellent Lumina Slide – the first silage film with a natural luminous effect. 

In collaboration with the Institute for Biobased Light Materials (IBL), KRONE has worked intensively on a solution that is both functional and sustainable. The focus of the research was on biobased luminescent materials that do not require harmful chemicals. The scientists drew inspiration from the naturally glowing fungus Panellus stipticus. Its ability to produce bioluminescence served as a model for developing an environmentally friendly luminous substance that could be integrated into the film.
The luminous material is charged by daylight and releases the stored energy in the form of a soft glow – entirely without electricity or chemical additives. Extensive long-term tests conducted by the IBL confirm that the material is completely free of harmful substances. No substances are transferred to the silage – making it safe for both animals and feed.
Especially during peak season, bales are often wrapped or moved well into the evening hours. As a result, bales can easily be overlooked and left behind. This is where Excellent Lumina Slide comes into play. The silage film has been specifically developed to make bales more visible even at dusk and in darkness. This ensures more efficient and safer working processes and prevents any bale from being forgotten. The luminous silage film also enables faster collection of silage bales and improves visibility in road traffic at night.
