BiG M 450 CR now featuring a roller conditioner

Spelle, November 2020 - KRONE introduces new roller conditioners for its high-performance BiG M mower conditioner to complement the well-proven steel tine conditioner (CV) and provide ideal treatment to legumes (e.g. alfalfa). The new roller conditioner comes in two variants - the profiled plastic rollers and the new steel M-Rolls. With either version delivering an exemplary conditioning quality, the new and robust CR steel roller conditioner with ‘M’ profile is recommended for use in very difficult conditions such as leafy forage and stone strewn fields.

The new 25cm diameter steel rollers have individual drives that ensure even large masses of crops are processed intensively without a hitch and yet high throughput rates. Since both rollers operate contact-less, the unit runs also very smoothly. As another plus point of this drive system, it doesn’t stop the top roller from moving upwards to avoid foreign objects, ensuring the rollers and the driveline are not damaged.

The intensity of conditioning can be adjusted in steps to suit various crop and yield levels (0.5 mm-25mm roller spacing). The settings are made quickly and easily from the cab for optimum wilting while avoiding fragmentation which in turn has a positive effect on the nutrient levels.

The BiG M 450 CR also features standard swath mergers for mowing, conditioning and swathing in a single pass, saving time and reducing the risk of contamination whilst improving the quality of the feed. The automatic height control of the chassis provides ample ground clearance in high volumes of forage. Alternatively, the BiG M can also be equipped with adjustable swathing decks for even more precise control of the wilting processes.

Powerful engine and hydro-pneumatic suspension on the front and rear axle

The self-propelled high-performance mower conditioner is powered by a 449hp, 12-litre Liebherr engine – and emission stage 5 unit with 1,000h service intervals. The engine and the drive unit are mounted on so-called silent blocks for smoothest rides. Automated engine control is a standard feature that switches automatically between Eco and M mode, ensuring no engine power is wasted and fuel is saved in less yielding crops. A newly developed load limit control reduces the forward speed automatically as soon as it detects a defined speed range. This ensures a clean cut at all times. Also practical is the hydro-pneumatic suspension on the front and rear axle; both axles are hydraulically height-adjustable. The chassis is automatically raised by 15cm in field mode to provide maximum ground clearance; in road mode it is lowered accordingly, so that in transport mode BiG M does not exceed a height of 4m. This innovative chassis concept also contributes significantly to the overall ride comfort. Maximum efficiency comes from the 9.90m work width that folds into a compact 3.0m transport width and 4.0m transport height, making BiG M also a real pro in road transport at speeds of up to 40km/h.

KRONE Guidance – the new ISOBUS steering system

For maximum driver comfort, KRONE offers the new KRONE Guidance ISOBUS steering system. KRONE Guidance offers various driving modes to suit any conditions. KRONE Guidance allows users to utilise the machine to capacity in terms of working width and forward speeds. Naturally, they can choose their preferred correction signal either EGNOS or RTK ( ± 2cm). On request, the BiG M is also available with SectionControl for auto lift-out of a mower.

BiG M 450 CR in combination with the new M-Rolls marks yet another level of professionalism of the KRONE self-propelled mowers. The machine impresses with top-notch conditioning in any type of condition, whether in leafy crops or in stone strewn fields. At the same time, being enormously agile and boasting side-shift functionality for the front mower, the BiG M harvests even small fields most efficiently.
